The phantom watch "Takano" is back
70 years ago, the Takano wristwatch was developed with the concept of high precision and durability, with Swiss machine tools and American quality control. However, the 1959 Isewan Typhoon hit the factory hard, and the company was eventually absorbed by Ricoh Co., Ltd., and its existence became a phantom. Tokyo Watch Precision Co., Ltd. has now acquired a license from Ricoh Co., Ltd. to inherit the concept of Takano and revive world-class wristwatches. We are pleased to announce the long-awaited Takano Chateau Nouvelle Chronometer. The Chronometer is a system in which an official inspection agency inspects and guarantees the accuracy of the watch. The prestigious Besançon Observatory is responsible for the inspection of the Chateau Nouvelle Chronometer. The high precision of the watch embodies the spirit of Takano at the time of its founding.
The watch is designed by Hajime Asaoka and finished using the Zaratsu polishing technique.
The movement is adjusted by Tokyo Tokei Seimitsu Co., Ltd. and has been certified as a chronometer by the Besançon Observatory in France. Therefore, the dial is engraved with the word "Chronometer," the first for a Japanese-made watch in the 21st century.
In terms of details, the watch features skyscraper hands, a symbol of Hajime Asaoka's designs. The distinctive curve of the hand tip echoes the curve of the bombe dial and the crystal, creating a beautiful harmony. In recent years, the Zaratsu polishing of the case has often been a combination of mirror and satin finishes, but this watch is completely mirror finished, giving it a striking beauty. We promise to deliver to you the actual watch, which has passed the rigorous chronometer test at the Besançon Observatory and returned to Japan with the certificate proving this.

The TAKANO "Chateau Nouvelle Chronometer" being announced this time will be inspected by Tokyo Tokei Seimitsu Co., Ltd., who will adjust the movement and case it to meet the chronometer inspection standards of the Besançon Observatory in France.
Unlike the Swiss Observatory testing, this testing is carried out on finished watches and therefore must meet stricter standards.
The TAKANO Chateau Nouvelle Chronometer is the first domestically produced watch to pass the rigorous Besançon Observatory chronometer test.
